Thank you to my beautiful, best friend Angie, for always encouraging and inspiring me to be a better person everyday. I'm so glad she took the time to do this video together, we always have so much fun no matter what we do. We just hope to share and inspire you to smile, laugh, love & embrace your day, and maybe even pee your pants just a little!! GO PACK! GO!!!
So its fifteen days into 2016. Many of us started with that nice clean calendar, already filled it up with kids schedules of activities, parties and events coming up and many of us revised our goals and plans for the upcoming new year and what we'd like to accomplish. What makes every year so different? A fresh start, a new beginning, a clean slate! I love January, (besides it being one month away from my bday, woowoo!) the house is all clean & fresh once the holiday decor is down (ok, mines going down this weekend!). Schools back in session, new activities start up again, people start new health and fitness goals...then within 21 days...its all over with. Yes! 21 days people already QUIT! GIVE UP! It takes 21 CONSISTENT DAYS to start a habit and people quit within the first 15! WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!?! So stop it! Not stop making resolutions, stop quitting what you didn't even completely start & fully commit to in the first place! ha! How can you quit something you never gave a fair chance to?
So here is the deal... what if everyday, a few minutes a day, you committed to YOU!?!! You actually wrote down, in your calendar, with a PEN! what you are going to do for YOU! Read? Walk/ Jog? Start a Gratitude journal? Cook one of the gazzillion recipes you pinned on Pinterest (guilty!), do a 30 minute workout that you downloaded from You-Tube or JOIN the gym in stead of just "following" them on Facebook? Get out and get moving! Schedule in "ME!" on your calendar! Connect with positive people that you can be yourself around, people that empower and lift you up, not the naysayers that you try to avoid or get annoyed by. (But still appreciate them and thank them for teaching you how NOT to be!)
Be picky about where, when and who you spend your time with. Measure your goals every 30 days, use the 1st of every month to evaluate the person you are and are you doing what makes you happy? or everyone else happy? Are you doing what is important to you and being yourself through it all? Make the 1st of every month a new you a fresh start! Can you imagine 12 new habits within one year!? ok, I got a little excited, how about at least ONE or TWO? What will you do for a better you in the next 30 days?
The Mom & Hubby celebrating in NYC together! |
So what am I doing this day/month/year?!!
1. I started cooking this year, frozen pizzas or order out only on Wednesdays because its our busiest chaotic day. My hubby doesn't have to pick up food on the way home from work anymore because this momma's got something yummy cooking!!! Even if it is only 2 or 3 times a week of great meals! Left- overs are just as great but I've been loving it and making meals together a priority in our home! & P.S. NO electronics on while we are eating together either!
2. I found a gym that I absolutely LOVE #9Round!! Its 30 minutes of crazy & tough kickboxing, of me letting off stress, feeling good, and quick enough to not make an excuse to miss! Its something different every day and toning my body getting ready for a #SummerSlimDown!!! 30 minutes of personal training, kicking butt, sweating, vs. a gym with no direction, or over an hour of just cardio? No brainer, its worth it, I feel great once I'm done!
3. I don't schedule a million things in one day or try to be a party/ event planner organizing of everything for everyone. #nostressin! I take it day by day, knowing I only have 24 hours just like everyone else and I take my sleep extremely seriously!!! Without sleep, my body can't de-stress and hey, I'm almost 40, I don't want sagging skin yet because I didn't sleep!!! & one more addition to a new me....
4. COMPLETING the task at hand! Yup! My crazy chaotic mind is always in a million things at once and this Momma is going to complete one before beginning another, including books read and slow down on my "million things at once" to a couple! Besides, I'm starting to see it in my beautiful 7 year old Mia, oops! Like mother, like daughter. So together, we are both making sure we "finish the task at hand" & I set the example of effective time management.
Embrace the people in your life! |
